Jump-start Your Dental Newsletter’s Power
Sending a dental newsletter is a long-term investment. Your first issue may not bring in a slew of new patients, but sent on a regular basis, a newsletter keeps your dental specialty practice top-of-mind with your referring dentists and physicians. Still, with the right strategies, you may find some fast results from your newsletter marketing efforts. For quick results from your newsletter, keep these three points in mind:
- Put your newsletters in the hands of the right people. Some referring health care providers are more likely than others to send patients to your dental specialty practice. For example, if you are a pediatric dentist who has traditionally sent a newsletter to dentists in your area, you might find lately that these dentists are treating younger patients themselves, instead of sending them to your practice. For better results, generate a list of pediatricians in your area, and send your newsletter to them. They are much more likely to send their patients to you—provided they know who you are. Whether you are an orthodontist, endodontist, prosthodontist, periodontist or oral surgeon, think about who is most likely to send referring patients to you. If you need help generating a mailing list, we can help you with our new EZ List service.
- Be creative when it comes to distributing your newsletters. You might add an insert into your newsletter explaining what is new in your office. If you typically give free items to your referring dentists—whether it be pens, magnets or notepads— include a copy of your newsletter. The free items are nice and sometimes stick around the office, but the newsletter is informative and, with the right content, positions you as an expert in your field. Finally, if you generally mail your newsletters to your referring dentists, try hand-delivering them on occasion.
- Don’t skimp on printing. The more you print, the more you can distribute. Don’t limit your distribution to dentists and physicians who already refer patients to your dental specialty practice. Print additional newsletters and send them to all health care providers in your area who might be sources of patient referrals. Just one new referral relationship could pay for your entire newsletter program.
